Migrant workers are a key part of the of our UNISON membership, they play a crucial role in delivering public services in many sectors. UNISON is committed to support members who come from overseas to the best of our abilities; but the complexity of immigration rules and ever-shifting government policy present a real challenge to our branch officers, representatives, activists and caseworkers to offer the best support available when members approach for advice and guidance on issues with particularities affecting this group of members.
This briefing is designed to provide useful knowledge and informative tools to all of our activists in the branches of Greater London Region, who are facing an ever increasing demand for representation of the migrant community.
We will explore ways on how to challenge and what actions to take to offer advice and support when we are made aware of exploitation suffered by any migrant workers within our branches.
