The Regional Disabled Members Committee (RDMC) was delighted to supports the Liberty Festival in its 16th year, along with colleagues from national office.
The RDMC holds a stall, meeting with local communities and raising issues around disability rights and how UNISON supports its disabled members.
Events this year included:
- ‘The Iron Man’ – walkabout performance, adapted from the Ted Hughes story
- ‘Dedicated to’ – a company of disabled and non disabled dancers
- ‘Deaf Rave’ – raping in spoken and sign language
- ‘Princess & Brave Boy Billy’ – interactive sculptures created by artist James Lake
Liberty Festival is an annual free public festival celebrating disabled people’s arts and is a major Disability event in London.
The 2018 event was held over three days (30th – 31st August & 1st September) in three different locations (Deptford, Enfield and Hounslow) with support from the Mayor of London.
